Dimensions vary from 5x5 cm to about one square metre. As material I mainly use low-grade materials: cardboard on a base of MDF or recycled sheet material. Wall paint is used to visually unify the parts.
Molitoriz is a transposition of my real name Smulders, or "des Mulders", from the miller, the Latin possessive form of Molitor (miller) is Molitoris.
I am a member of Kunstcollectief K26 in Oss and my work is also available at gallery BosFineArt in The Hague / Utrecht. Studio visits by appointment.
Light creates shadows, reflects, and is swallowed up in gaps. That fascinates me! All my works are a quest to explore this play of light. That is why they are mostly white: stripped of the superfluous, pure, simple. But white is never really only white. Shadow can make white even darker than ... than black? And through reflections, white can become coloured.
My reliefs usually represent nothing, they are not an image of anything around us. Not an image, not even as a simplification (abstraction), but they are themselves: concrete. Geometrical. They are formed from mathematical or geometrical principles, or by formalised coincidence. And then the light can play with them, between the white elements, change colour, disappear, and reappear. Different light, different shadows. But you can also use these principles to make images using shadow.
Observe and you will discover a fascinating world.
